Structured Cabling
With the exponential growth of global communications challenging the capability of today?s networks, a physical network infrastructure that stays ahead of emerging application requirements is no longer a luxury. It is now a necessity. At HTS, we can design and install a cabling infrastructure to meet your needs today and into the future.
Cat 3, Cat 5e, and Cat 6
Cat 3 or Category 3 cable is a copper twisted pair cable that is most commonly used today for voice transmission. It supports frequencies up to 16 MHz and can be used for 10BaseT Ethernet networks.
Cat 5e or Category 5e cable recently replaced Cat 5 as the standard for Ethernet networks. Cat 5e cabling supports frequencies up to 100 MHz and speeds up to 100 Mbps. It can be used for ATM, token ring, and 100BaseT and 10BaseT Ethernet networks. Cat 5e is designed to support TIA Power Sum standards. |

Cat 6 or Category 6 cable is becoming the new standard for Ethernet network solutions; Cat 6 delivers up 250 MHz of bandwidth to he desktop making new applications like Voice over Ethernet (VoIP) and video to the desktop more available. It can be used for ATM, token ring, and 1000BaseT, 100BaseT and 10BaseT Ethernet networks.
CATV and COAX
CATV Cable or RG6 is designed to deliver video applications like satellite and cable to the infrastructure. CATV or RG6 is most commonly used in residential and commercial for connectivity to television outlets.
COAX cable is commonly used in peer-to-peer ring network topologies whereby computers are daisy-chained together by one continuous cable. Most common cable types are RG58\RG59 for Thinnet applications and RG62 in Arcnet applications.
Fiber Optics
Fiber optics is a popular technology used frequently for local area networks. The cable utilizes bundle of glass or plastic threads called fiber to transmit data. These glass threads have the ability to transmit messages that are blended into a carrier signal onto light waves.
Fiber optics has several advantages over metal communication lines. They have a greater bandwidth - which allows for more data to be transmitted; they are less susceptible to interference; they are thinner and lighter; and the transmission of data is digital.
